Grace Robinson

Grace Robinson is a Melbourne-based singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, vocal coach, and booking agent whose dynamic career blends raw talent, technical prowess, and deep industry expertise. At just 24 years old, she has already made an indelible mark on the Australian music scene, moving seamlessly between performance, composition, teaching, and industry leadership. A dedicated musician from an early age, she traveled solo to the U.S. at 16 where she recorded a 7-track mini-album in Portland with acclaimed engineer and producer Adam Selzer (Snow Patrol, The Decemberists). Supported by ABC and national radio, this release led to sold-out launch shows at Melbourne venues while she was still a teenager.

Simultaneously excelling academically, Grace topped the Victorian state in VCE Music Investigations and performed at Top Acts (2019). Grace went on to pursue a Bachelor’s in Jazz and Improvisation at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA), where she earned three scholarships of excellence. At 19, Grace co-wrote and featured on Australia’s iconic jazz musician Barney McAll’s album An Extra Celestial Christmas. The standout track, “Precious Energy,” which featured Grace’s vocal arrangements, went on to receive an ARIA nomination. Beyond songwriting and performance, Grace became a sought-after vocal coach and teacher. Notably, she served as the vocal coach for the Australian rock band Jet during their 2019 tours, and was also the lead vocal director and producer for Guuranda, the first First Nations opera performed entirely in Aboriginal language (Headlining Adelaide Festival 2024). In 2022, Grace became WAT Artists' youngest and only female touring and booking agent, building a roster of 11 acts and contributing to national festival programming. She also worked with international artists touring Australia. Collaborating with acts like Mildlife, Glass Beams and Ruby Gill, as well as festival bookers nation-wide, she has built extensive industry knowledge and connections.

Recently, Grace is seen as co-founder, manager, key songwriter, and lead singer of Empress, a Melbourne-based fem-power group making waves in the local electronic scene. She has led the band to major festivals like Dark Mofo, Sun Cycle, Beyond the Valley, and PANAMA, plus sold-out shows at The Night Cat and Northcote Social Club. Their debut singles, including Baby and Grandma (You Lie), earned Triple J rotation, with Grandma (You Lie) reaching 3rd in the Unearthed Top 10. Their 2023 debut album, Daughter, has surpassed 70,000 streams, and a sophomore album release is set for 2026.

In 2024, Grace shifted focus to her solo project. Though yet to release music, she has already sold out debut shows at The Retreat Hotel (150 tickets) and The Old Bar (110 tickets) and secured slots at the Brunswick Music Festival, along with support slots for established Melbourne acts. Now fully focused on her songwriting, she will launch her career under her own name in 2025 with her debut album “Person,Patient Person”. Blending epic indie rock anthems with folk and soul influences, her sound is shaped by artists like Sharon Van Etten, Phoebe Bridgers, and Joni Mitchell, alongside local talents Julia Jacklin and Angie McMahon. Her songwriting, marked by emotional depth, raw honesty, and sharp wit, weaves self-deprecating humor with vulnerable narratives. With a rich background as both an artist and industry professional, Grace’s future as a solo artist promises to be as dynamic as her journey so far.
